I don't expect HP to do anything. They have all of us under control with their demand to use ONLY their product. This stinks. I have had HP products for years and this is the last thing I buy with an HP logo on it. Such a selfish company.  They don't know anything about customer service or "good will". Only the high price tag for their cartridges makes sense to them.  They can keep their $$$$$$cartridges as far as I am concerned.  btw. if you tried to call them or send them a message, forget. it they don't respond.

MFP281 owner here too.  I had this exact same problem a year ago and managed to get the exe fix to work. I've turned off all of the updates, yet somehow the 2021 update managed to get installed anyway.

I've managed to get the FTP method to work this time (exe method didn't work)  so now I do at least have a printer that works.

WIll I be buying another HP printer? NO.

WIll I recommend HP to anyone else? NO.

Will HP care? NO.

This method can be apply on all HP printers with non genuine tonner. or Supply Error.
