Hello Karina2010,

Thank you for posting your concern,

Ink Cartridge Recognition Issues on HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e All-in-One Printer is not recognizing the ink cartridges, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Check Cartridge Compatibility:

    • Ensure that you are using the correct ink cartridges for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e. Incorrect or incompatible cartridges may not be recognized by the printer. Check the printer manual or HP's official website for compatible cartridge numbers.
  2. Reset the Printer:

    • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
    • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and wait for about 60 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on. This reset may help the printer to recognize the cartridges.
  3. Reinstall the Cartridges:

    • Open the cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to move to the accessible position and become idle.
    • Remove the cartridges and reinstall them properly by pushing them firmly into their slots until they click into place.
  4. Clean the Cartridge and Printer Contacts:

    • Power off the printer.
    • Gently remove the cartridges and carefully wipe the copper contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water. Be cautious not to touch any other parts.
  5. Update Printer Firmware:

    • Check for any available firmware updates for your printer model on the HP support website. Updated firmware can resolve recognition issues.
  6. Try Different Cartridges:

    • If possible, try installing a new set of genuine HP cartridges to see if the issue persists. Non-genuine or refilled cartridges might not be recognized correctly.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider contacting HP Support for further assistance, as there could be a more complex issue with the printer hardware.
