Hi @Tom_Salley,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your printer has gone into a “Paused” mode after you canceled the ink program and installed new cartridges. Since it can still scan but won’t print, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Status on Your Computer

Open Printer Queue:

  • On Windows: Go to “Control Panel” > “Devices and Printers” or “Settings” > “Devices” > “Printers & Scanners.” Find your printer, right-click it, and select “See what’s printing” to open the print queue.
  • On macOS: Go to “System Preferences” > “Printers & Scanners,” select your printer, and click “Open Print Queue.”

Resume Printing:

  • If the printer status is “Paused,” you should see an option to “Resume” or “Restart” the printer. Click on it to clear the pause status.

2. Check Printer Settings

Set Printer Online:

  • Ensure that the printer is set to “Online” and not “Offline.” In the printer properties, you can often change this setting.

Default Printer:

  • Make sure your printer is set as the default printer on your computer. This can be done from the “Devices and Printers” settings on Windows or “Printers & Scanners” on macOS.

3. Check for Print Jobs

  1. Clear Print Queue:
    • Sometimes, pending print jobs can cause the printer to remain in a paused state. Clear any pending jobs from the print queue and try printing again.

4. Restart Devices

Power Cycle Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 1-2 minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Restart Computer:

  • Restart your computer to ensure there are no lingering issues with the print spooler or drivers.

5. Check for Driver or Firmware Issues

Update Printer Driver:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer driver installed. Visit the HP website, search for your printer model, and download the latest drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
