HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer

We replaced our cartridges 2x still got the same issue. Cartridges are not communicating correctly with our printer we tried everything unplug the printer, reset the printer still the same.

I understand the cartridges in your HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer are still not communicating with the printer despite replacing them and performing resets, there are a few additional steps you can take to troubleshoot:

Check Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the cartridges and inspect the metal contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer.
  • Use a lint-free cloth to gently wipe the contacts to remove any dust, ink residue, or debris. Be careful not to touch the contacts with your fingers, as this can cause further issues.

Reinstall Cartridges Correctly:

  • Reinstall the cartridges, ensuring they click into place securely. Sometimes, cartridges may appear to be installed correctly but aren't fully seated.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • With the printer unplugged, hold down the power button for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and check if the issue persists.

Try Using Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • If you're using third-party or refilled cartridges, try installing genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-HP cartridges may not always communicate correctly with the printer.

Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve cartridge communication issues. Go to the HP website or use the HP Smart app to check if there is a firmware update available for your printer.

Clean the Cartridge Slots:

  • If the problem continues, the issue may lie with the cartridge slots themselves. Gently clean the slots inside the printer with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure proper contact.

Error Message or Printer Codes:

  • If there is a specific error message or printer code (like "cartridge not recognized"), it could point to a particular issue. You might be able to find solutions based on the error message.
