Samsung C480W
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Bought a used samsung c480w laserprinter and when installed and try printing it shows these horizontal lines in every print. What could be the problem and how could I fix this?

Two things to clarify:

1. happens on every print in the same spot?

2. Only happens once per page?

If the two above are correct it would suggest an issue with the transfer belt, which is the grey or black mylar belt that carries toner from cartridges to be deposited on the paper. You can check it to see if there is some obvious foreign material. Do not touch the belt or other imaging surfaces inside printer with bare hands as skin oil can lead to further defects.

Thanks for your reply.

The lines are arbitrary, but it does seem to appear around 20cm apart from each other. So when the lines appear around the top there will be another row of lines 20cm below. When the lines appear in the middle there is only one row of lines.

I got the same suggestion from someone that it could be the transfer belt or cleaning blades. This afternoon I cleaned them both and it was somewhat dirty mostly on the cleaning blades, but the problem did not improve even slightly.

It looks like that you have a defective drum and check the surface of it first.

I'm afraid that you may need to replace it.
