I've recently purchased a 7740 printer and went through all the setup and firmware update without any issue. The only issue I have on the printer is under Apps > Update Printer Apps is not working. I've already:
-setup the printer as new
- reset the printer
I never had this issue with the last printer I bought in 2019.
What is the fix for this? I ask this as a separate topic similar to another but specific for the 7740 wide format.

Hi @nickname999 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're facing issues with updating printer apps on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format printer, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the problem:
Check Network Connection:
- Make sure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer or mobile device.
- Ensure that the network connection is stable.
Update Firmware:
- Confirm that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You mentioned that you've already updated the firmware, but it's always good to double-check.
Restart Printer and Connected Devices:
- Power off your printer, computer, and any other devices connected to the network.
- Turn them back on and check if the issue persists.
Reinstall Printer Software:
- Uninstall the printer software from your computer and reinstall it from the official HP website. Make sure to download the latest software compatible with your operating system.
Check for App Compatibility:
- Ensure that the apps you are trying to update are compatible with your printer model. Sometimes, certain apps may not be available or supported.
Manually Update Apps (if available):
- Check if your printer supports manual app updates. Some printers allow users to download and install app updates manually from the manufacturer's website.
Factory Reset:
- As a last resort, you may consider performing a factory reset on the printer. Keep in mind that this will erase all custom settings, and you'll need to set up the printer again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for your reply, however almost all of those suggestions I've already done except for checking if the printer app capability.
For your reference the 7740 printer here - HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer - HP Store Canada
I've also tried this solution or removing Web Services, restarting, going through Web Services Setup - same issue. Solved: Office Jet pro 8720 will not update print apps - HP Support Community - 7498039

Most recent issue same printer but somehow reinstall the HP Smart app was the accepted solution where it only provides alternative of using the HP Smart app and not the function the physical printer itself - Solved: HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Can't Update Printer Apps - HP Support Community - 8729678
This issue is with the printer software on the printer only. The only relevant choice of your suggestions - how do I check to see if this printer is compatible with print apps. Additionally, why would it have the software option on the printer to do so?
