Envy 6055
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I originally bought this ***bleep*** Envy 6055 brand new from Best Buy last December (2020) to work with an HP Chromebook.  It worked for a short time (2, maybe 3 printings over a month's time) and then eventually simply "stopped working" (?!?).  No matter what I tried, NOTHING (and I mean NOTHING) got me back to being able to print from a machine that I had just spent about $150 on (a lot of money to me, being 61 years of age, with some disability, and on a fixed income).  I soon concluded that hp was now a just a scam company, as I was informed that there was NO SUPPORT FOR CHROMEBOOKS (NOT EVEN AN HP CHROMEBOOK!!!???!!!).

Fast forward 7-8 months now and I am attempting, again, to connect this so-called  and alleged "AIO Printer' to a friends Acer Chromebook -- and cannot even get it to connect for ONE print job (much less scan, copy, or whatever else this ***bleep*** is SUPPOSED to perform).

To thicken this hp "***bleep***" POT, I cannot even get this JUNK to connect to my Windows 10 Dell laptop.

Would anyone here happen to feel as if they could help me perform tasks that 10 and 15 years ago I performed with little to no assistance (BECAUSE ALL THE STINKING TECH GEEKS HADN'T EVEN YET BEGUN TO COMPLICATE EVERYTHING AT THAT POINT).

Hi @grc223,

I'd like to help!

I understand you're unable to connect the printer to a Chromebook and windows computer.

To assist better-

  • How is the printer connected to the device USB or wireless?

If wireless,

  1. What is the status of the wireless light on the printer, steady or blinking?
  2. I would like to know, is your router set to work on 2.4 GHz network or 5 GHz network band?

Meanwhile,

To set up the printer on Chromebook, refer to HP printer setup (Chromebook)

To set up the printer on windows, install HP Smart from the Windows store, refer to HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

 Keep me posted.

Sorry, I've had problems being able to reply to you!

Q1.  "How is the printer connected to the device USB or wireless?

A1.  I am trying to connect wirelessly - but not sure if I will be able to or not?  How does one KNOW when/if they are connected -- there is no notification area to check, such as there is on a computer!?!

Likewise, I am not sure about the answers to these two questions either:

  1. What is the status of the wireless light on the printer, steady or blinking?
  2. I would like to know, is your router set to work on 2.4 GHz network or 5 GHz network band?

1.  There doesn't seem to be a "Wireless Light": on this printer (not one that I can see, anyway).

2.  I am "pretty sure" the router is 5 GHz as it is supposedly "State of the Art" from Verizon, and we just got it as new customers of Verizon, and it is a newer type compared to any of my friends (all of whom have been with Verizon for long periods (years).

The wireless symbol on the Printer will be lit up blue if it is connected to the network.

The highlighted icon on the control panel is the connectivity symbol.

Use the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button on your router to connect the printer to your wireless network.

  1. Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router. Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.
  2. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button for at least 5 seconds or until the light starts blinking  OR
  3. press and hold the Wireless and Power buttons on the rear of the printer until the blue bar flashes.
  4. Within two minutes, press and hold the WPS button on the router until the connection process begins.
  5. Wait for the light on the printer to stop blinking.

To set up the printer on Chromebook follow the steps in the document- HP printer setup (HP Print for Chrome)

To set up the printer on windows 10 OS, follow the steps in the document-HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

Let me know how this goes!

Are ^^these two^^ different things or are they the same?  You say "symbol" and you say "icon" but are they the same "thing" (same display?)?

e disregard my last message as the Blue wireless symbol (or icon or whatever) is lit.  I am moving on to attempt to connect the Chromebook now.....

ll naturally I think I'm at the final step and am STUCK.

I arrived on a page that says "Get ready to print!", and on step 3 from there it says "Click "Change" and then select your printer", well there is NOTHING that says "Change", nor does my printer show up when I try clicking on other things.

Can you please advise?

I don't understand why you all keep making these things more complicated...I used to be able to handle this and most anything else with my machines but now you guys are making it so regular people can't do it without help...that's not at all customer friendly..
