Wow recently moved so connected to new network, I can now print, however my hp smart app logged out. When I try to login I just get a whirling circle saying 'FIND THE OPEN BROWSER WINDOW, THEN SIGN IN TO YOUR HP ACCOUNT. NOTE: THE WINDOW MIGHT BE BEHIND ANOTHER OPEN WINDOW OR MINIMISED.' This window is not open anywhere though. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app (running macOS Monterey version 12.0.1) on MacBook pro, but its still doing the same thing. Any ideas? Thanks.

It's sad - but I got it fixed by switching default browser in MacOS general settings to Safari. (I had Google Chrome selected previously). It worked this way

Thanks, that was it. I hate that! I want Chrome as my default. I'll have to toggle back and forth whenever I want to scan/fax.

Yes, me too.  It's a new printer to me and set up has been a pain. My old Canon Pixma was simple.   And now this.......

Macbook M1, using Chrome browser I too get the response

Find the open browser window, then sign in to your HP account.
Note: The window might be behind another open browser or minimized.

Switch to Safari (dont want to) and its all ok........  Question, does HP support monitor this forum, or should I log it as a problem?

OK.  I had a chat with support man (having skirted round the BOT)

Really strange.    He suggested that i access using this URL

https://www.hpsmart.com/us/en    did this via Chrome and it works!!.

Then went back to the HP Smart app on nhe MACBOOK and that now works too?   Confused.

I'll report back if it re-occurs.

My Default browser is Safari and don't have Chrome installed. I have the website logged in successfully as well. However when the SMART App login it shows the message 'Find the open browser window, then sign in to your HP account.
Note: The window might be behind another open browser or minimize' but there is none.

Very frustrating...

I've read through all of the messages and reconfirms my thought that buying an HP Printer was the biggest mistake I've made.

This didn't work for me. Changing default to Safari...HP should fix this issue. It's silly not to.

The solution is to buy a Canon, Brother or any other brand of printer. When I couldn't get it to work with my Imac I tried my Ipad and it worked! The next day I wanted to resume my scanning and it didn't work. I tried my Imac again and it worked for now. Very frustrating. Wasted 3 hours of my time because of their lousy product!

Very annoying and should be a simple fix - Safari doesn't even fix it for me...it sometimes hows the window, but then I end up in an unproductive loop back to login again and again. HP please resolve this! I shouldn't be forced to login to Smart to scan!
