I recently purchased a new HP Pavillion laptop and to my surprise when I got home to install my printer I can't seem to make it work. If I manually install the printer driver through Windows, I can tell it the IP address of the printer and it installs and I can print just fine. The problem comes if I try to use the installation software so I can setup scanning. It will not detect the printer no matter what I do. I have tried turning of my firewall and that has not helped. I have also tried using the HP Print and Scan Doctor software and that has not helped either. It is not able to detect the printer either. I have 7 other computers that this has worked fine on in the past. And there are currently 5 computers at my home that have the software installed and are able to scan with no problems. Is there a way to manually setup the scanner for this printer or am I stuck with trying to get the HP driver software installation to work? Thank you so much in advance for your help!

There is a good change that either a) the printer is no longer configured properly for your network, or b) your router configuration changed somehow. I would check your router settings first, and then completely reset your printer (not just the NVRAM, but reset to factory settings).

Sorry this is not a direct answer to your question, but have you tried "Easy Start" yet?

So I was able to get "Easy Start" downloaded and gave it a try. I have the same problem with it. Still can't find the printer. So I decided to remove the software from one of my working computers that we really don't use this on and try to reinstall to see what happens. I have the same problem on this computer. This makes absolutely no sense. Why am I able to setup the printer and though Windows and print to is, but not able to install the driver from the installation software? What could be the problem?

I'm not sure.
Did you try the drivers on this page?

That is the exact drivers that I am using to tray and install. I have even downloaded the file again to see if I have something corrupt in my original download, but that did not help either. What else may help? Do you think connecting directly to the printer with a network cable would work if I set the IP addresses manually? I could try that. It really makes not sense to me that I can ping the IP, manually install the printer driver through Windows and print to the printer, but this HP installation software will not find the printer. I am really stumped.

Give this one a shot, then; It was updated yesterday.

I see that this is a universal printer driver, but I don't see how this may be used to connect to the scanner. I am able to setup the printer and print to it. I need to be able to get the scanning features working. What am I missing here?

Ok, I installed the Universal Driver and it works just fine. I then opened the HP Scan and Capture app that I use to do my scanning and it still can't find the scanner. Is there something else I need to do in order for it to be able to find the scanner?
