Hello, I am trying to get my newly-brought HP printer, the HP OfficeJet 3830, to work in the Wireless Connection to my school Wi-Fi. The good news is, my father and I have set up the printer at my house where we were able to make it connect well to our Wi-Fi, and we were able to print from it via my own personal computer printer, known as the Canon MX470 series Printer WS. However, I have decided to bring the printer with me to my dorm room so that I can print on it from my laptop computer, and I am having a hard time getting the printer to connect to the school's wireless connection.

For some reason, I keep getting told that the printer status is Offline, and I am unable to connect to the Wireless connection, also known as the Wi-Fi Direct. The Web Services Summary tells me that my email is not available, and the printer status is NOT CONNECTED, and the HP ePrint is on. I have also attempted to add the printer device, DIRECT-F7-HP OfficeJet 3830, as well as inserting the WPS PIN number that came along with it, but the method failed to work. The message I received was: "That didn't work.  Try adding your DIRECT-F7-HP OfficeJet 3830 again, or check with the manufacturer for additional setup instructions." However, it takes a long time to get it to connect, as I am also informed "The time available to connect to the mobile device has run out." I don't know what else I am supposed to do now to get my printer connected to the wireless Wi-Fi Direct connection. Is there a way I am able to  print via wired connection, though? Is there another way that I am able to print via wireless connection? Please help.

Hi @Angel_114,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query. I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are facing issues with your HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer wherein it does connect to the wi-fi network.

This issue could occur if the wi-fi direct is enabled.

Let's go through a few steps that may help to fix this issue.

I suggest that you disable the wi-fi direct on the unit and check by following the steps listed below:

1. From the Home screen on the product control panel, touch the Wireless button.

2. Open the following menus:

Wireless Menu

Wireless Direct

On/Off

3. Touch the Off menu item. The product saves the setting and then returns the control panel to the Wireless Direct menu.

If the issue persists, then I suggest that you follow the steps to setup the wireless network by following the link: Wireless Printer Setup

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.
