Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I am trying to set up my DeskJet 3633 printer wireless connection to my router using the HP smart software on windows 11.

Unfortunately i cannot complete any actions as i keep getting a pop up asking for an admin password for the printer.

The printer is new and i have not set any passwords.

I have talked with HP support agents over the phone and they keep saying that the password should be on a little sticker at the back of the printer or where the cartridges are, needles to say such sticker does not exist.

I have the exact same issue as the person who posted this post:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Errors-or-Lights-Stuck-Print-Jobs/Deskjet-3630-admin-password...

How can i reset this pawword, and even after reset what is the default one?

I have seen that on the post mentioned above and other posts related to the same issue some HP employee has sent some instructions via DM to the users, can i get these as well please?

Thank you!

Hi @Bard21,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To reset the admin password on your HP DeskJet 3633 printer and set up the wireless connection, you can try the following steps:

Factory Reset the Printer

Restore Network Settings:

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button together for 3 seconds.
  • This will restore the network settings to their factory defaults.

Full Factory Reset:

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Open the printer's front door to access the ink cartridges.
  • Press and hold the Power button.
  • While holding the Power button, press the Cancel button 10 times, and then press the Resume button 5 times.
  • Release the Power button.

Set Up Wireless Connection

Using HP Smart App:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app on your Windows 11 computer.
  • Open the app and click on Set up a new printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to the wireless network.

Using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup):

  • Make sure your router supports WPS.
  • Press the Wireless button on the printer until it starts blinking.
  • Press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes.
  • The printer should connect to the network automatically.

Default Admin Password

After resetting, the admin password might revert to a default setting. Try using the following defaults:

  • Admin as both username and password.
  • 12345678 or admin as the password.
  • If these defaults do not work, there may be no password set after a reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello,

Unfortunately these steps did not resolve the issue.

I still get the message "A custome password has been set for your printer. Enter the password to access the printer web interface"
