All this stuff about thinking "Green" and HP just cut its users off without cranking out a workaround...They turned a perfectly good scanner/printer/copier into a boat anchor. Just goes to show all this "Green" talk and Globalist warming is all political to increase government control and has nothing to do with actual environmental concerns. And I had to hunt for 2 weeks to find the answer.... What are the chances my next printer/copier/scanner will be an HP product? lol This sounds more like planned obsolescence than happenstance.

The Work Around App provided by HP works well for scanning except for one thing. Even though under "More" I directed the Destination Folder where I want my scans to go, I still have to manually save my scans to that folder. I tried downloading the 2nd work around app from microsoft and they tell me I don't have a device compatible with this app. I still feel HP should re-code the Solution Center to work without Adobe Flash. It is what people are used to. I have a perfectly working HP Officejet 4500 and don't feel I should have to fix something that isn't broken. What say you HP?

The Software still works fine!
1)Temporarily set the date on your computer's time/date to something like 1/3/2021 (also Windows 10 switch off the automatic time updating in settings).
2)Double click on the HP Solution Center Icon and it will work as it did before. At least this worked on Windows 7.
Apparently some programmer at HP has configured into the HP Solution center software a date around the time of expected Flash support discontinuation to block this software from running. I only did this experiment on a Windows 7 PC but think it is likely same for Windows 10 unless Microsoft has also killed it some other way in their latest updating.
This is not best work-around but can be done if you are in hurry. Also a good concept to get the computer's date in time/date restored back as soon as possible after you get it running so not to accidentally trip up any periodic licensing checks the computer sometimes does in background processes.
Changing computer's date to something like 1/3/2021, starting the HP Solution Center software, and restoring date right back could also be to automated into a bat file (a simple text based script that runs command line arguments) is recommended so to make this process very efficient if you are interested.

Download 'RunAsDate' people! Then you don't have to bother with manually switching the windows time.
For others that are still replying to this topic, there have been multiple easy solutions given over and over again...go through the pages and READ.
I don't think HP is going to update software for 10 plus year old printers, nor did they ever anticipate Flash going away....deal with it or go spend $50 on another printer and stop complaining already.

10 Plus years, I only bought it new 8 years ago and I wouldn't buy a cheap one for $50. I'd want another Office-jet All In One Printer. The Work Around work great so I will use it until the Ink runs dry and then I will worry about a new one.

Makes sense and a great suggestion unless you are running 5 computers on a Network. I remember a few years back I changed the date and forgot about it and the rest of the computers would not connect. The Work Around that HP suggested works good enough for me
