I was prompted by HP to do some printer updates.  The first one went through fine but the second one that had the word 'FIRMWARE' in the name failed.  I searched for downloaded exes to try and re-run it but couldn't find them.  During the failed download, my printer picked up some sort of command to verify and to this day the printer's touch screen says it is 'Verifying'.  I've tried to turn it off, reboot the computer, unplug the printer and it is still saying it is verifying.  I cannot turn it off (unless I unplug it) and I cannot print to it.  It will not bring up the screen menu to give me any choices of what to do with it.

Please try these steps -

1) Take out the cartridges.

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Wait for 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If the issue still persists, I have sent you a private message with the reset steps, specific to your printer. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Hi!  Thank-you for your instructions.  It may take me a few days to do this considering logistics / position of the printer.  I will let you know if I'm successful later in the week.  Thank-you!  Lois Bennington

Followed the instructions to download the FIRMWARE again and I get to the spot where it is asking me to pick up the serial number.  No serial number pops up.  I believe that is what happened the last time.  And I cancelled at that point and the printer has not been the same next.  I clicked REFRESH but it does not bring up a choice and I don't see a way to type it in.  The serial number would be TH7BT3T05Q

The printer is plugged in and it is still saying 'VERIFYING'.

That should have read - the printer hasn't been the same since - not since NEXT.
