The scanner on my HP4650 is no longer working after I upgraded my Mac OS to Catalina (10.15) and installed the appropriate HP driver. My printer is working correctly though.

@Fle1, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Try using the HP Smart App to scan. Refer to the document HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Mac) for help.

Also, you can refer to a similar post here.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for your advice. I did what you recommended and downloaded HP Easy Start. Got all the way to the end where I could test the Print and the Scan functions. The Print test was successful but not the Scan. I found out in the Community Chat room that Easy Scan is not supported on Mac with Catalina 10.15  I guess I would have to wait until this issue is fixed by HP.

Thanks for your support.

Thanks for replying!

You can try the Image Capture for scanning or HP Smart App.

Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Image capture on Mac works but not Easy Scan on MacOS Catalina (10.15). HP Smart App/123.hp.com will point me to download Easy Start for Mac and recommend Easy Scan for scanning documents.

I was able to scan documents and send them to my Windows10 PC (and from there e-mail them to my Mac), but my printer would not scan documents to my Mac directly (it will print correctly with my Mac though).

Has HP resolved this issue? It has been close to a month and save for Image Capture (suggested by Apple) scan issues remain. I'm only able to scan 1 page at a time and not multiple pages.

@Hallman, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I understand your concern. HP Easy Scan is currently not fully compatible with macOS Catalina. We're actively working to restore complete functionality.

Try using the HP Smart App to scan. Refer to the document HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Mac) for help.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Any further updates on a patch to fix the scanning issue with Mac Catalina 10.15.2? Last I was aware back on 9 December, 2019 HP was working on a fix?? Why should I purchase HP products when the company is unable to keep up with changes necessary for its products to work as they have been advertised to do so?

If this is not completed within the next 30 days (I have a business to run) then I will be forced to seek another printer that is capable of scanning through a Mac running Catalina.

Any comments?
