Fixed it this way on 24 October for my MacBookPro OS Catalina 10.15.5 (problem with the HPDM  popup began on 23 October 2020)

  1. Under Preferences/Printer:  removed my HP OfficeJet 6700 (click on minus sign)
  2. Under Finder/Apps: removed all HP folders and files, put them in the Trash and emptied trash
  3. Restarted computer
  4. Downloaded and installed Easy Start software from 123.hp.com site (for printer and scanner)
  5. When I went to print, the popup reappeared (HPDM.framework will damage your computer) so I went to Finder and put the HPDM.framework in the Trash, then emptied trash. 
    • After all of those steps, Printer worked fine.
  6. Next time I tried printing there was a new popup "Matterhorn Framework will damage your computer". Did NOT need to do steps 1-4, since software was already reinstalled, but followed  same trash protocol as in Step 5 above, discarding the Matterhorn Framework.

Since then printer has worked fine all day (but it is still Oct 24 ...)

QUESTION: I don't think this has left  my computer open to malware since my Trend Micro Antivirus showed zero threats before I did any of the above, and after.  BUT If others know differently, I welcome your input.

Went to FINDER, MACBOOK, Macintosh HD, search for the folder that is causing the error in my case HPDM.FRAMEWORK and delete it.   

 

The popups stopped.

Followed PnwRichard's guidance and it worked for me as well.  I used "AppCleaner" to uninstall all HP apps,  next cleaned out everything in the /Library/Printers/hp/Frameworks, then reinstalled the HP apps from the App Store. This eliminated the constant error notification.

No help from Apple they say it is all on HP as their certificates that are included with driver have expired. HP needs to send out an update. So it looks like we have  to wait  for HP to get off their bottoms.

And who know if HP will address older printers such as the 4XXX  series which are still workhorses in many businesses.

I solved this problem on my MacBook Pro running Catalina 10.15.7 to my HP Officejet Pro 8600  by:

1. Dragging the HP folder to the trash can from Finder

2. Rebooted my Mac

3. Emptied my trash can

4. Reinstalled the HP drivers using HP Easy Start

 

Note: I could not find a way to uninstall the drivers.  Maybe I just didn't look hard enough but the above method worked for me.

Thanks! I had tried just updating the software (no joy),  needed to actually uninstall then reinstall and then it worked.

LynMarie2020, IronBadger has two posts. The second one has two solutions listed. Use the second one to use HP's "EasyStart" app to delete all HP files. And without even closing that app, use it to reinstall. My second reply to him mentions a successful reinstall notice window, and a "Continue" button, after which the app froze when I clicked on it. I thought I was defeated, but then restarted the Mac and ALL IS WELL. The restart did the trick, in spite of the post-install freezing. I saw in the Force Quit window that it wasn't responding. If you have that same thing happen, just ignore it and restart.

Restart. The popup is gone!

Me too! I downloaded the printer driver again, and now the printer works, but I still get the scary warning message. What do to?
