The message my printer is giving me is "HP is recommending reinstalling the print driver software.  I don't know what that means - is that something I need to download?  I have an HP 7450

I have a Deskjet 6940. After 30 minutes on the phone with Apple Support they sent me to HP who of course does not have anyone to speak with. Here's what got it working for me again:

  1. Installed and ran HP Easy Print which said it could not automatically download driver for my printer
  2. Went to support pages on HP.com and located driver downloads for Deskjet 9640
  3. Downloaded and installed said drivers
  4. Deleted printer from Mac setting panel, then reinstalled it
  5. printer restored

I hope this helps others.

iI have tried to call HP but it cuts me off if I remain silent.  It wants me to give them a serial number.  When I do that it says I am no longer under warranty and cuts me off.  My printer works but Apple and the HP AI robot aka virtual agent cannot get my scanner to work.

Do you have a MacBook Pro?  I can’t find the link you show.  I worked with AppleCare last night and loaded 2 drivers but I still have the Framework damage message. Main problem I see is my printer is out of warranty. It is still working but I want the message gone. When we installed the drivers we selected “keep “ instead of “trash”.   Some have said they selected trash and now the print won’t work. Just a heads up!  I was told to contact HP and that appears to be impossible!  Really irritating- who’s problem is it?  HP or Apple?  Anyone with another hint on getting rid of the message?

Do what I suggested before:

The solution is to download (and install) this package (From HP FTP) which will update drivers AND THE CERTIFICATE:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essen...
The install takes a bit. Let it run, even if it seems like it stalled out!

It is NOT the same as the driver package, Easy Start, or Easy Admin other people are recommending.

If the link comes up blank, try right/control clicking and saving it (it takes a while to download, and a while to install). If you install this package and still have trouble, try restarting. Then go about uninstalling your printer USING THIS METHOD ONLY (NOT EASY START, NOT EASY ADMIN): Apple Logo (Upper Left of Screen)/System Preferences/Printers & Scanners. Then restart your computer. The reinstall using the same menu in Printers & Scanners and use the default driver.

If you still can't find the printer, install the 5.1 driver package from HP: https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1888?locale=en_US

Then restart and try to install again through the Printers & Scanners menu.

Easy Admin did nothing. Easy Startup did nothing. 5.1 drivers did nothing. This worked for me!

Thumbs up if it helped you.

If that doesn't work, start a new thread, and PM me with the link, and I'll help you there.

My note: For me it did not work until I uninstalled the HP printers from the System Settings and rebooted before installing the driver above. I did not install the 5.1 driver package, only the one from the FTP site.

**bleep** annoying that Apple just pushed this out without helping customers to resolve the problem, which must affect 100.000's if not millions of users....

I have the same problem.  I have a 3050A J611 All in one printer

I put all of the bad stuff in the trash and emptied it.  Now  I go to HP Easy Start and it can't find my "operating system."  The only choice it gives me  is Windows.  Same  problem with the 123.hp.  Now what do  I do?

In my case, I fixed the issue following these steps:

1. Go to Library->Printers and delete the hp folder

2. Restart Mac

3. After the restart, Mac showed an update for hp drivers

4. Update drivers and problem fixed

The 5.1 HP Update appeared yesterday on Software update - but it did not fix anything.  This afternoon the HP 5.1 update appeared again after several checks for software upgrade (as I was reading the forums).  This time around it fixed the issue, at least with my HP Laserjet 4200 (with trays, envelope feeder, stacker, stapler and duplexing).  The 5.1 file with drivers are from 2017 - so changes where made to the software so that the certification security no longer disables the printers.  An Apple 2nd level support mentioned to me that Apple used to provide the HP drivers in the iOS or for download through printer utility, and they had been transitioning to stop doing that and it will be the printer manufacturers who will supply them going forward.  Something in the transition went haywire.  The concern is that HP needs motivation to support older printers. The Lserjets 4000 series (4000, 4050, 4100, 4200, 4250, 4300 & 4350)  were sold from 1997 to 2005 and are workhorses - solidly built, high quality and fast.  We still have many in our company. The incentive to HP should be they still sell the toners & drums.

I am no expert and barely know what I am doing but I searched for everything on my computer that was HP and deleted it. The constant HPDM.framework message box went away. (Had to go to the Library and searched and deleted all HP files.) Just downloaded the driver and HP Easy Scan again (wasn't sure if I should do that but I figured, I could always delete it again). The test page printed but so far, I haven't been able to print anything from my computer (which is where I was when I started down this path a couple of days ago). At least I got my computer back. I will continue to fiddle with it to try to get the printer to print.
