Hello,
I recently purchased this printer and I have a major issue as it's impossible to add custom printing shortcuts.
I just saw another topic with the same issue as mine : https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/Add-printing-shortcut/td-p/6710119
The current driver version installed by windows is 20.79.1.6733, and when I downloaded and installed the 40.x version coming from the official hp website; this version don't change at all and I'm blocked.
I try to call the hp support but they were not able to fix my issue so I came here.
Is it possible to share a method or a trick to be able to create any printing shortcut ?
Regards

I made some progress by reading this post : https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2281139-2041471-16
Now I know that changing one parameter to an existing shortcut allow me to save the duplicate as custom with a specific name.
But using the shortcut as the one to print pictures, appears obvious to me that it will be color only but its seems that the driver is not allowing to edit it as a setting and I need to switch to another tab to change between black/white and color which is not user friendly at all.
I can change the paper type, the quality, the format, borders, recto-verso mode BUT NOT THE COLOR MODE.
Please ask any développer to change it and make this dynamic.
Regards

Update -
OK - looks like we crossed over each other while posting.
Install the Full Feature Software...
The Smart Printing driver introduces the concept of Presets (Shortcuts) in a modern GUI -- current settings can be saved much the same way as are Shortcuts in Printing Preferences / HP Scan.
Smart Printing can be used to print with software (for example, Word) or using (for example) the HP Smart application.
Will the color option you seek be included in a Saved Preset?
Unknown.
If you have HP Smart Printing -- and IF you wish to use the driver -- it might be worth a quick check.

Der,
Thanks for your detailed guide and hints to help me to fix my issue.
Unfortunatly the "HP Smart Printing" feature is not available for this printer model.
I try to uninstall and install the driver using the FullPack software but the driver version still 20.X and not 40.X
Moreover, the HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Series and HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Series PCL-3 drivers haven't the same settings and options.
The last one is badly translated to french, and in both the color mode/option can't be selected for each preset that I try to add.
The dll referenced by the driver is hpbxpsv420.dll, and I'm wondering how these shortcuts are stored.
Because if I want to setup the printer on another computer, I suppose that I need to install the FullPack software, how I'll replicate them and use these shortcuts ?
This printer is out since more than 2 years and it's a major issue to not make it easily configurable even for me with some IT background.
