HP Deskjet 2130
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have bought a new 2130 deskjet printer.

I already had a 2130 before.

Apparently the devices are slightly different.

After installation the program asked me each time to choose the old or the new printer.

So I decided to remove everything from the old printer and to install only the new printer.

I uninstalled all drivers/apps/programs.

Then I tried to re-install my new printer.

But the installation failed giving me an errorcode but I did not write it down.
I removed everything again. Even a HP-log file I noticed in 'Program files'

I retried the installation but now the system tells me almost immediately : installation completed.
But nothing has been installed.

Now I'm stuck ....

Heelp ...

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Use these drivers to install the Printer: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01796879

Let me know if this helps.

I don't understand why you send this to me ?
This is just a link is for general help ?

I specified in my post that I cannot install the drivers because the system assumes the drivers have been installed already.
The installation program jumps from the start right to the "Installation finished" status.
There must be a reason why the system thinks the installation has finished already although nothing had been installed yet.
That's why I removed all the software I could find from HP or the 2130 series.

But apparently there is still something that tells the installation program that the drivers have been installed.
Remark : the printer is still my default printer and I still can print ...
But I cannot scan : there is no shortcut nor a .exe file available ..

Try one of these scanning methods:

  • Printer control panel: If your printer has a touchscreen control panel with a Scan option, you can use it to scan to your computer or email.

  • HP Smart app (Windows 10): Search the Microsoft Store for HP Smart to find and install this app. For more information, go to Using the HP Smart App (Windows 10).

  • HP Scan and Capture app (Windows 10, 😎: Scan documents or photos from the printer or webcam. A full feature print driver must be installed on the computer. For more information, go to Using the HP Scan and Capture App (Windows 8 and 10).

  • Windows Scan app (Windows 10, 😎: Search the Microsoft Store for windows scan to find and install this app.

  • Microsoft Paint (All Windows versions): Search Windows for paint, and then open the Paint desktop app. Click File or the menu icon , and then click From scanner or camera.

  • Windows Fax and Scan (All Windows versions): Search Windows for fax to open the desktop app, and then click New Scan.

  • Webscan utility (network printers): Obtain the printer IP address and use it to open the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) in a web browser. On your printer's website, click Webscan on the Scan tab.

Let me know if this helps.

These are all apps that use installed printers.
They tell me to install the printer first ....
The only people who can solve the poblem are the people that develop the pinter installation programs.
They should know why the system thinks that the printer has been installed yet, although it is not installed anymore.
A similar printer (also 2130 series but called DJ 2130 in stead of deskjet 2130 ??) has been installed before.
But I uninstalled this previous printer.
Though the installation program still thinks that this printer is currently installed (or something like that).

Which is why we gave you a link to install the built-in drivers first: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01796879

Once done, use one of the methods from the previous post to start scanning.

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

I hope that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

Got this far :

Then I restarted the computer anyway, but the problem is still there.

I could also not uninstall the drivers completely due to 'in use' by printerfilterpipelines.svc

Thanks for your help so far.

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers panel.
