I need to reset my printer to accept HP 205A toner since I moved to Poland. In the original country it used to take the HP 204A toner,.

Hi @Adrian2025,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand you're trying to use HP 205A toner with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M181fw after moving to Poland. Unfortunately, toner regional resets are not supported for this printer model.

HP toner cartridges are region-specific, and printers are configured at the factory to accept cartridges designated for the region where they were originally sold. Once configured, this regional setting becomes permanent and cannot be changed or reset, even if the device is moved to a different country.

Since your printer was originally set up to work with HP 204A toner, it will not accept HP 205A toner from the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) region.

We understand this may not be the answer you were hoping for, but we hope this clarifies the situation. Let us know if you have any other questions.

I hope this answers your issue.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Unfortunately, you are absolutely wrong and are misleading users publicly. I'm sorry that I encounter such incompetence when asking for help on the HP corporate forum.

So, allow me to educate you on the service settings for HP devices.

If you need to change the printer region and use consumables from a different region, perform a regional reset on the printer to resolve this issue by pressing the appropriate key combination on the printer panel. After this operation and selecting the correct region, the printer works properly and accepts 205A toner cartridges.

I'm disappointed that I didn't receive such assistance on the original HP forum, but had to rely on information from sources unrelated to HP.
