My 6830 printhead lasted two years with light usage, and I'm disgusted with the quality of this printer. Ink cartridges were replaced recently. None of the printers that use the 934/935 inks look like a good replacement. I'm going to eat the cost of the ink, and buy another printer (not an HP model). I, too, have used  HP printers for a lot of years, going back to the HP LaserJet 3 in the 80s. Not any more, though. That's it.

@sarnott

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

I am having the exact same issue!  I bought this printer about a year ago, and I may have printed 50 pages on it.  I ran through the cartridges it came with, and I recently bought the replacement cartridges for 75 to 100 dollars.  THEN I got the printhead error.  I'm very disappointed to learn that this was a known issue, as I have been an HP customer practically since the inception of the company!  Last 3 HP printers I've bought were in the garbage anywhere from a year to two years after buying them... I swear they have become a replaceable commodity instead of an asset to purchase!

Yep I am done with HP as well. OfficeJet 6812 18 months old and printhead error. Bought $60 of new ink thinking that might be the issue.  Throwing money away after bad money. Learned my lesson with HP. Not being able to get 2 years out of their OfficeJet printers is atrocious.

I am reiterating the issues that KAT1126 put into words so well!

"Thank you for informing us that any of us who got this printerhead error and had the above noted ink cartridges, we might as well just throw more cash in the trash since NONE of the models that use these cartridges are available... all were discontinued.

I can now throw out about $200 in ink and then pay another $200plus to get a new printer (or $200+ for a refurbished one) oh and more for ink cartridges ... might be time to look for another printer manufacturer.  Printer doesn't last 2 years?? They KNEW the printhead was defective since before 2015 and yet continued to sell it and NOT advise new owners nor make it an extended warranty item.  I believe my "ownership" started in 2015 so once again HP has screwed a customer.

Not your fault, I know, but definitely NOT happy this afternoon ... where did HP quality go?  Certainly not in their printers, and I have been an HP user for more years than I wish to admit.  But this could be the last straw."

can  you bring this to the attention of HP for me also?

Oxc19a0003 error

sad that HP rips off its customer when full well knowing there is an issue!

Same problem as others. Just bought new ink for the printer and two print jobs later a print head error. Really! This is very disappointing. Having to replace this printer and buy new ink is going to be very costly. I do not think I will be buying another HP printer.

Hi Everyone, we too own a HP 6830 which lasted over a year, then 6 months out of warranty, bam!  Printhead error.  And yes, when we noticed problems with the print quality, and the printer indicated it was low on ink, we replaced with $85 worth of new genuine HP ink cartridges.  Within days, the printhead error occurred.  I did a quick internet search and found a tutorial by a man that had the aforementioned "printhead error" on his Officejet Pro 6830 that FIXED the problem.  So, I rolled up my shirt sleeves and gave it a whirl.....  And, it indeed did work!  If you have a set of starshaped allen wrenches and a little time, you too can fix your 6830 crappy printer and perhaps salvage your newly installed ink cartridges.  It seems the error is when, for whatever reason, the ink pools in the bottom of the printer and "mucks up" the printhead.  Warning, I did speak with someone that sells the cartridges, and she warned against scratching the little copper plate, or the ink cartridge will be unusable.  There was a small bit of ink left in the cartridges that I had installed prior to the printhead error, so I have not replaced with new yet, so not sure if the error will occur again.  I hope this helps!

Any chance you have the link to how to fix the printhead error problem? I did google it but did not find anything with the how to.

Thank you.
