Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had sent my computer back for repair. I got it back I had no printer listed.  The printer prints, but I have no scanner or fax. Originally I had a solution center to open both of these actions. Now from doing so many software fixes that's disappeared. And when I open it before it disappeared I for  message telling me I had not finished downloading the software. I've tried many fixes and nothing with fix the problem. During setup when it gets to downloading the software I get a error message exit code 1603. Someone help, this is the third day I have been trying to fix this problem.

I don't know if this is a HP software or Windows 10 issue.

Let's try these steps -

Download and install HP Print and Scan Doctor, it is a Windows tool to fix printer issues.

If the issue still persists, try re-installing the printer driver -

1. In the search box, type and open "Uninstall a Program".

2. Look for HP Printer software.

3. Right-click to uninstall.

4. In the search box, type and open “Devices and printers”.

5. In the Devices and Printers, look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose “Delete” or “Remove Device”.

6. Open the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7. Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”).

8. Click on the "Drivers" tab.

9. Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click “Remove” at the bottom.

10. Select Ok.

11. Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows.

12. Close Devices and Printers Once the software and drivers are removed.

13. Restart the computer.

14. Download and install the software and drivers from here for Windows 10 (64-bit).

15. Click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

Well HP employee. None of your fixes work. I know because I tried them all. So instead I went to Microsoft, I got it fixed.  The drivers for the software were not working, from my original download. I spent a considerable time with a Microsoft tech to find the problem and fixing it. He reinstalled windows 10 and deleted the drivers that had been installed from the download. So after the windows 10 was reinstalled and he downloaded the drivers from the HP site, it worked. I spent a Total of 5 hours on the phone with Microsoft until I got it fixed. I will never buy another HP product even it it a good buy. I bought a new HP Laptop in August of 2019 and have had nothing but trouble with it. When I got it the laptop the mouse and pad would open and close windows at random. It would enlarge and shrink the screen also at random. Thinking it was a setting problem I put up with it for 3 months before I call HP. They told me it was a component problem and I would have to send it back to them. It took 11 business days to receive it back. That doesn't include holidays and weekends. When I got it back a report of what had been done to it was inclosed. They replaced 9 part and did extensive testing. Right away I tried it and it was still doing the same thing, but not as bad. It doesn't often enlarge the screen, however it opens and closes windows all the time. I'm going to order a wireless mouse and use it instead of the laptop mouse and pad. I didn't have any problems with my printer before I sent it to them When I got it back the printer had been completely removed. Then i tried to reinstall it and that's when all the problems started with the printer.  I call your tech department and explained the problem. They insisted that it was a printer problem and I would have to pay $19 to get it repaired. I refused to pay the money and looked the error message on line. On line it said in many sites that it was a security windows update that had caused it. HP wouldn't hear of it and told me to go to Microsoft, They refused to fix it unless I paid the fee. Microsoft did it for free and was able to fix it completely. I have come to the conclusion that the HP tech department can't fix anything. Unfortunately I took a 3 year extended warranty after the got the laptop. So if it breaks and it's the computer I will be forced to send it back to HP. However I will call Microsoft first to get there advice on what they think is wrong with it.  Being an employee you can tell your tech and customer department what I said. I wish you would, as I got nothing but problems from them. I had spoke to a customer service rep, after I got it back and told him the whole story, all he said was please give us another try when purchasing HP products. That is no customer service at all. Train you people on what to do, as I have been in retain for 21 years and 17 years in quality control.  NO WAY will I ever buy another HP product. My HO printer was new when I bought it and it broke with in the first year.  It was covered, but instead of getting a new one I got a refurbished one. Until your tech department touched my computer my printer worked fine. And now because of Microsoft it will again. I spent 5 days trying to get it fixed. I even paid a service to fix it, they could not fix it. I at least got my money back on that, but Microsoft was the only one that could fix it.  I suggest you train you technician better to find the problem and fix it and not remove software that isn't broken.

A very dissatisfied consumer.
