My Deskjet 3050 printer joins the network, but can’t find the IP address even when I manually enter it from the printer screen.

@Msveej, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that you are trying to connect the printer to a wireless network.

Do you have access to a personal wireless router?

  • Restart the router, the printer, and the PC

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. Connect it to 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

I have done so many restarts and unplugs until I lost count.   The computer tells me each time “the printer is on network, but no IP address received “….,

You have to check if the router is set to 5GHz network or 2.4GHz.

On the printer, go to Wireless menu > Print report

Check if the printer is connected to the right network.

If not, follow the steps mentioned in this document - Connecting an HP Printer Using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

Let me know how it goes.

How do I know if the router is set to 2.4 or 5 GHZ? I see both on the box and both are lite up, I have went to printer and connected it again and it gives me the same Info over and over?

@Msveej

First, you have to check if the router you are using is a dual-band router.

Next, check if you have connected the printer to a 2.4GHz network. These details can be obtained from your Internet service provider.

Also, I have mentioned this in my first post:

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. Connect it to 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.

Keep me posted.

My printer and computer is ion same network  and yes it’s dual band  can’t set for 2.4,   I have tried connecting printing to laptop and getting same crazy error.

This model printer does not support a 5Ghz network due to its age. It has to be connected to a 2.4GHz network.

Else, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
