At the start my printer was printing documents 2-sided normally without issue. After i had some problems with the wifi connection i decided i would just use a cable. At the start it printed normaly but later when i tried to print a document 2-sided i told me that i have to manualy put the paper back into the top tray to print the other side. When i did that and clicked on the button on my pc to print the other side nothing happenes.

Hi @Hadis3005,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating it must be that your HP printer was printing two-sided documents automatically, and now it's asking you to manually reload the paper, only to do nothing when you try. Let’s walk through the most likely causes and how to fix them.

Fix: HP Printer No Longer Auto-Printing Duplex After Switching to USB

1. Re-enable Automatic Duplexing in Printer Properties

Sometimes switching from Wi-Fi to USB resets the printer’s configuration.

Here’s how to fix it:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your HP printer > Printer Properties.
  3. Click the Device Settings tab.
  4. Look for Duplex Unit (for 2-sided printing).
  5. If it says Not Installed, change it to Installed.
  6. Click OK to save.

This tells Windows your printer supports automatic duplexing again.

2. Reinstall the Printer Driver

Sometimes the USB connection installs a basic driver that doesn’t support duplex printing.

  • Go to Official HP® Support.
  • Enter your printer model.
  • Download the Full Feature Software and Driver.
  • Install it and restart your PC.

3. Use HP App

This tool can auto-detect and fix duplex printing issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
