Hello -
My printer prompted me to install a firmware update a couple of days ago. After the update installed, the printer never turned on fully and is in a continual boot loop. The printer shows the hp splash screen, followed by the white progress bar to load, then an initializing... image with a blue hp logo, then immediately presented with a 49 service error. After that error displays, it automatically reboots and repeats itself again.
I've tried disconnecting the ethernet cable, unplugging from power for a few minutes and replugging back in. I tried connecting via USB to my computer to see if the HP Firmware Updater program would see it, but it does not (at least not on my Mac). I'm fairly tech savvy, is there a way to download a prior firmware version for my printer and install if via a flash drive somehow? Or what options do I have at this point?

I understand you are getting an error message 49 on your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
We need to perform a Semi full reset to restore the printer back to its original settings.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Hello,
I own an M183FW Laserjet Printer, have error 49 in continuous loop, a-600 Euro- purchase that I can't use because of this silly problem.
I took off any cable, set Wi-Fi off, turned off and on the printer many and many times but I could almost print nothing since I bought it...
Could you help me please before I throw this stuff through the window???

I have an HP Color LaserJet MFP M281fdw as the others here and a similar problem. I get a message that translated into English is "Resending upgrade". HP tells me that this is also a loop and that the BIOS is faulty. I cannot send a BIOS upgrade to the printer. In only one instance doesn't the error message show up: when I'm in Scanning Settings mode.

I own a Color Laserjet Pro MFP M281cdw and it stopped working and is in a loop with this 49 Service Error boot loop. Tried a bunch of different resets and switching on/off and nothing has helped. Could you pl help me? I tried to click on your link and i have access privilege. Your help will be greatly apprciated.
