title says it all. i want to permanantly prevent any printing of any photos from my printer that are not 4x6.
i have adjusted my printer settings to 4x6, added the photo tray in devices and printers, changed print paper to 4x6, changed print size to 4x6, cropped and scaled photos down to 4x6 aspect ratio. AND STILL MY PHOTOS ARE PRINTING OUT AT 3.7X5.2....how do i fix that? like actually fix it?

Hello Frustr8ed,
So you are saying you have more that a 1/4 inch border around the 4x6 photos.
Are you selecting the borderless checkbox for the output and it still does not work?
If so...
How did you install the printer on your Windows 10 machine?
What applicaton are you using to print from?
If you did install the drivers yourself, I would Uninstall them completely and download the Full Featured Set from the link below and reinstall.
PS_AIO_07_C310_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe
Let me know if this works.
PS: It would not be necessary to permanently prevent other paper size options to get the 4x6 size to work.

I installed my printer by going to the HP website and searching for drivers and programs for my printer. Then I downloaded an GP program that automatically detected what hardware I was using and installed the necessary things related to that hardware. I'm using HP photosmart solutions as well as Windows picture viewer and it happens on both of those programs when I print.
After an uninstall and reinstall, I'm still getting printouts smaller than 4x6 😞

Also, I will further look into the issue with Windows 10 later today as I am on Windows 8.1 at the moment and it may not reproduce the same problem you have.
If I can reproduce the same problem, I will get back to you asap.

Okay, I played around with 4x6 photos via Windows 10 as I don’t normally use it (I still use 8.1 for all my graphic work ). Also, I did not have this issue in Windows 8.1.
The default photo viewer in Win10 is different than in Win 8.
If you are using the Default photo viewer in Windows 10 that has the black window, it appears to be limited as to what you can do with printing options.
Example: Print options in Windows 10 Photo.
I had to find a hack to re-enable the older style photo viewer. The old style photo viewer let me access the "borderless" photo option in the printer settings. I could not find a way to do this in the new viewer.
This is from the Windows 10 Forum, moderated by Brink, who is a trusted source for information and fixes among IT pros. I have tested this on my computer and it works...
Go to this link… Windows Photo Viewer - Restore in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
- Download Restore_Windows_Photo_Viewer.reg in Step 2 of the webpage.
- Next, double click the downloaded file to install it.
- You will be prompted to give permission to allow the installation and a warning that you are about to alter your registry. This is normal and ok to allow.
- Restart the computer.
- Right click on the Start button of your desktop and choose Control Panel.
- Under All Control Panel Items, click on Default Programs and then select Set your default programs from the list.
- Arrow down to Windows Photo Viewer and click on it to highlight it.
- Choose Set this program as default.
Now your photos should open in the older style photo viewer.
Example of the older style Windows Photo Viewer
I will continue and explain how to find the borderless option for printing from the older Photo Viewer shortly.

The point of my post is that, to get the 4x6 to print full page and borderless, you need to print through a different photo viewer. The default viewer in windows 10 will not allow you to go borderless in its settings.
This is why I suggest adding back the viewer used in Windows 8, which can be reinabled via a simple registry hack.
Is this not going to work for you? Let me know.

Got ya. I'll post the steps I use for borderless, just in case you or someone else needs them.
In the Windows Photo Viewer, click on Print and choose Print (or hit Ctrl/P on the keyboard).
Make sure the correct printer is selected. Sometimes if your Printer does faxes, it might be selected by default.
Paper size: 4x6 Quality: (your choice) Paper type: (choose the actual photo paper you are using)
You may also need to tick the box for Fit picture to frame.
Click on Options.
A print settings window will open. Click on Printer Properties.
In the Properties window, select the Paper/Quality tab.
Click the Advanced button.
A new window will open. Go to Printer Features/Borderless Printing and choose Print Borderless.
Click OK on the open Windows and print your photo.
