Dont go to Settings,
Go the Control Panel to change the defaults.
- Right click on the Start button of your desktop and choose Control Panel.
- Under All Control Panel Items, click on Default Programs and then select Set your default programs from the list.
- Arrow down to Windows Photo Viewer and click on it to highlight it.
- Choose Set this program as default.
It should look just like the photo above.

I tried to do that as well but it was unsuccessful. I did however follow your previous post which linked me to brink's post and after step 2 didnt work i tried step 3 as well as installing the link you posted with HP software. The HP software install failed after 10 minutes of installing saying it was incompatible with my version of windows, I think because that link was for Win8 OS and i have Win10 OS, BUT, it did install some drivers onto my system, so I just ignored it and continued with step 3.
In control panel, default apps showed both Photos and Windown Photo Viewer so I selected WPV.
After I selected WPV, I opened up several photos with WPV and went into print options and in the and I finally got it to print borderless!! due to new options appearing.
So i had to use two of your solutions to fix the problem and just to make sure it was fixed, I even printed some pictures to test it and they came out perfect with no white space on the printout. YAY!!!!!
Thanks for your help.

Wow, what a work around.
Glad its finally solved.
The fact that Windows was telling you the install was incompatible is rather odd though.
The drivers should be the same either way so as long as it installed, you're golden.
Cheers.

5520,
You're printing from MS Paint because Windows is setup by default to open your picture files with that program.
Are you using JPEG's?
Go back to the first page of this thread and read about enabling the old Picture Viewer in Windows 10 in this link...
Once thats done, right click on a photo file and choose to Open With... and select the Photo Viewer you just enabled.
That will alllow you to print a borderless 4x6.
You can go into Windows Settings and re-define the default programs that open files.
All Settings/System/Default apps.
Keep in mind you also need to select the appropriate HP Photo paper. That will also enable the ability to choose borderless in the advanced settings.

Thats because you havent enabled it first.
Go back and read this...

Download the file and run it to enable the old photo viewer in the registry.
Then you can change it to the default viewer.
Then you must also have the correct paper selected. Not all profiles will allow borderless printing.
