Hi @mcmahot,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 printer is stuck on "Verifying," it usually indicates an issue during the startup process, firmware update, or connection setup. Here are steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Perform a Power Reset

  1. Turn off the printer: Press the power button to turn it off if possible.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for at least 60 seconds: This allows the printer to fully reset.
  4. Reconnect the power cord: Plug it directly into the wall outlet first, then the printer.
  5. Turn on the printer: Press the power button to restart the printer.

Step 2: Check for Firmware Issues

If the printer remains stuck, it could be a firmware issue:

  1. Access HP Firmware Recovery Utility:
    • Download the HP Firmware Recovery Utility from HP's support website on your computer.
    • Follow the instructions provided by HP to attempt a recovery. This tool can help reset and update the firmware if the printer is not responding normally.

Step 3: Restart in Safe Mode

  1. Turn off the printer: Disconnect the power cord if the printer is unresponsive.
  2. Enter Safe Mode:
    • Press and hold the Cancel (X) button and the Back button (Arrow) on the printer’s control panel.
    • While holding these buttons, reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
    • Release the buttons when the HP logo appears, and the printer should enter Safe Mode.
  3. Check the display: If it starts in Safe Mode, you can try to update the firmware from the printer’s screen or perform a factory reset.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @mcmahot,

Please find the remaining steps below.

Step 4: Factory Reset (Only if other steps fail)

  1. Enter the Support Menu:
    • Press Home, then press Back, Back, Home.
    • This combination might vary, so check the printer’s manual for the correct sequence to access the Support Menu.
  2. Navigate to Reset:
    • Find the Reset Menu and choose Partial Reset or Full Reset.
    • Be aware that a full reset will erase all settings and network configurations.

Step 5: Reconnect Printer to WiFi

  1. Re-enter WiFi Setup:
    • If the printer restarts correctly, go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer control panel.
    • Reconnect to your WiFi network by selecting your network and entering the password.

Step 6: Check for Hardware Issues

If none of the above works, there may be a hardware issue:

Check all connections: Ensure that all cables, especially the power cord, are securely connected.

If the printer still does not progress beyond "Verifying," contact HP Phone Support for further assistance,

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
