HP has offered no useful help to me. All responses are to repetively retry the alignment which ALWAYS fails on 2 brand new printheads. After the process completely emptied 2 new colored ink cartridges I have decided to buy no more HP Printers. I got no telephone support. I am left wondering: 1- Did the WIndows 10 upgrade leave me with a disfunctional printer driver? 2- Did HP send me a faulty printer head? 3 - Is this HP's way of forcing me to buy a new compuuter?

Having read Roger-TX's comment re failure after buying new printheads I'm glad I didn't spend >£100 on new ones but decided to replace the printer with an Epson Eco-tank 4550.
If somebody wants to buy my HP 8500 Pro it's on e-Bay for this week.

Hi Rebecca,
I'm sorry you are having these issues with your printer.
I wish I had a solution for you. The alignment process is related to the HW for your printer. If it is failing - it is not driver related. Unfortunately, I think your printer is broken and needs to be replaced.
If your printer is in warranty, HP Customer Support can arrange a printer exchange for you. If your printer is out of warranty there is a charge for a HW replacement.
I can understand you do not want to wait on hold to speak to an HP Customer Support representative. I unfortunately can not do anything about the wait time and troubleshooting time over the phone.
I wish this had an easy fix I could provide to you in the forum. If I had a better answer - believe me I would give it to you!

I am having the exact same problem. I started with blank lines down each printed page and hp support online indicated that a new printhead was necessary(very helpful tutorial but it drinks ink!). I went ahead and purchased the printhead for $50 because i had so much ink left for this printer i felt it would be worth it. The print now looks amazing but just as others have indicated, i am stuck in a loop of printer alignment failure every time I print a page. I also have gone through several new ink cartridges. I have followed every instruction on the support instructions numerous times wtih the same result. It sounds to me like it is NOT a faulty printhead since everyone is having the same problem. The printhead I purchased shows a date of Sept 2017 and is authentic HP.
If my printer is dying, I wish HP would indicate that instead of having me invest more funds into printheads and ink while continuously giving me hope that this can be fixed. I am sure I am well into this for 4+ hours of time as well. So frustrating!!! It is not under warranty, just like others with this problem.
Apparently there are many of us out here with this problem, HP what can you do to help??? If this doesn't work out, I will not be buying any more HP printers for my office of 10 employees. I have to say I'm not surprised after other issues wth HP.
any help much appreciated!!

Sorry to say, laworker, but there is no fix or further effort from HP on my problem. I'm speculating that at about 50000 prints HP has a planned obsolescence. I am enjoying my new Officejet Pro 8620 but it was an expensive fix! So, both HP and I are much happier these days.

thanks for the update! i agree on the obsolesence thing; it would be easier to swallow if i hadn't sunk all the money i did into printhead and ink though 😞 I am shopping for a new printer but it won't be an hp.

I am having the exact problem with the same printer purchased in 2011. Just before this started, it would occassionally not recognize that there was paper in the tray and I would have to pull it out and put it back in. Were you able to resolve the problem?
