HP ENVY 6065e All-in-One Printer

I just set up the printer.  I succesfully printed one word document. When I attempted to print another one, all of the control panels lit up and I got a printer error message. I am already regretting having bought this machine.

Hi @petersenka,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your new printer. If all the control panel lights are on and the printer displays an error message but won’t print, it could be due to a range of issues. Here’s a detailed troubleshooting guide to help you resolve the problem:

1. Identify the Error Message

  1. Check the Error Code or Message:
    • Look for any specific error codes or messages displayed on the printer's control panel. This information can be crucial for diagnosing the problem.

2. Restart the Printer

  1. Power Cycle:
    • Turn off the printer using the power button.
    • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds.
    • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

3. Check for Paper Jams

Inspect Paper Path:

  • Open all accessible doors and trays.
  • Carefully check for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any stuck paper.

Clean Paper Path:

  • Ensure that there are no small scraps of paper or debris stuck in the printer.

4. Verify Ink Cartridges and Printhead

Check Cartridges:

  • Open the printer’s access door and ensure the ink cartridges are properly installed.
  • Remove and reinstall the cartridges to make sure they are seated correctly.

Inspect Printhead:

  • If the printer allows access, check the printhead for any visible issues or obstructions.

5. Check Printer Settings and Connection

Verify Printer Settings:

  • Make sure the printer settings are correctly configured for the type of document you're trying to print.

Check Connectivity:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. For wired connections, check the USB or Ethernet cable. For wireless connections, ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

6. Run Printer Diagnostics

Use HP Smart App:

  • If you have the HP Smart app installed, use it to run diagnostics and resolve issues. The app may provide specific troubleshooting steps based on the error message.

Check Printer’s Control Panel:

  • Some printers have built-in diagnostic tools accessible through the control panel. Consult the printer’s manual for instructions.

7. Update Printer Firmware

  1. Check for Updates:
    • Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model. Download and install any available firmware updates.

8. Perform a Factory Reset

  1. Reset to Factory Settings:
    • If you can access the printer’s menu, look for the option to perform a factory reset. This will restore default settings and may resolve configuration issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
