HP 6968
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I work on behalf of Epson at a local big box electronics retailer but bit the bullet and purchased this printer due to its bevy of features and considerable improvements over the 2015 HP models available at my store (as well as the competitive sale price of $59.99, down from $179.99). Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase but have noticed that the Auto Off function does not work. It is currently set to turn off after 1 hour but does not do so. Conversely, the scheduled power off feature was tested and does work as intended. Sleep mode is currently set to the minimum of 15 minutes, though I don't think this function is in any way connected to the auto off (which has a limit of 8 hours, unless I'm mistaken). I already tried toggling various things in the power management menu, such as turning off the slider for scheduled powering/shutdown, but nothing works. It does not turn off completely (i.e. the power button remains lit and the unit is essentially asleep, not off).

Any opinions?

I have captured the following from the user guide of OJ Pro 6960 series (page # 3) available at HP support page (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05135226😞

Auto-Off is enabled when the printer is turned on, if the printer does not have network, fax or Wi-Fi Direct capability, or is not using these capabilities.

Auto-Off is disabled when a printer’s wireless or Wi-Fi Direct capability is turned on or when a printer with fax, USB, or Ethernet network capability establishes a fax, USB, or Ethernet network connection.

Please check if this feature is disabled in your case due to active connections to computer or mobile devices (wired/wireless).

You may also try to send a job to the device to test if the device is able to wake-up automatically upon receipt of job (when device has not been used for more than 8 hours).

Hope this helps!
