I can't print return labels anymore. The barcode is just outlined and the rest of the document appears in very weak black color. The cartridges are basically new. Printing from the hp mobile app on Android. Tried printing as pdf and as a screenshot. Tried aligning the print head but that fails each time when i am supposed to scan the alignment page.
Please help, i wasted hours on this issue

Hi and thank you kindly for your response.
I tried printing as image, jpg and a screenshot of the barcode as jpg. Nothing worked.
In the end i brought the printer to the store and they tried a new cartridge. Apparently mine dried out even though it is only a few months old. With the new cartridge the barcode is printed.
If you can't print barcodes and the rest of the print is not a deep black, then most likely your cartridge is the issue. You can test this by making a black and white only copy of a document. If nothing is being printed, your black ink is the issue.

Hi @Pascal26,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
I see that you are facing an issue with your Printer when printing barcodes or QR codes.
Printer does not understand barcode data.
Some content cannot be translated correctly.
The fix is to save / print in a format that does not require the printer to understand / translate the content.
Suggestions:
Save the data as a PDF file and Print as Image
OR
Snip the content you want to print from your screen > save as an image (.jpg) file > Print that

Hi Irwin,
first: thank you. I took a screenshot, printed the picture and the barcode was readable.
Besides that, I wouldn't call this a solution, it's a workaround, resolving a desgin failure.
If HP realy tells me, that I bought a printer in 2023, which is not capable to print barcodes, then this must be a joke and a bad one.
I am printing barcodes close to daily and I would expect the printer to just print any standard document, without me being forced to snip or to select the output format.
Also I do noit expect the printer to "understand" the content of the printed barcode.
Why should it? The label is a return label for an online shop package.
No need for my printer to read and understand that.
I hope yo report this to the product designers and this failure is fixed soon, else this was the last HP product I bought.
Thank you again and sorry for being a bit upset, when writing this message
