Hi, I have an HP Envy Photo 7155. I had a power outage and now my printer is no longer working. It shows a blue screen with the error 00829C98. I tried following some instructions from another user with this same problem (unplugged the power cord from both the back of the printer and the outlet, then uninstalled and reinstalled the ink cartridges), however, this did not work. Is my printer just dead now?

@aregilio, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code 00829C98 on your HP Envy Photo 7155 could be due to a number of issues, often related to a system crash caused by the power outage. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean the printer is dead. Here are a few additional steps you can try:

Reset the Printer:

  • Unplug the printer from the power outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Plug the printer back in and try turning it on again.

Check for Paper Jams: Even if no paper is visible, there could be small bits of paper or other debris inside that could cause an issue. Open all the access panels and carefully inspect for any blockages.

Try a Hard Reset:

  • Turn the printer off.
  • Hold the Power button and Cancel button at the same time for 10-15 seconds.
  • Release the buttons, and then try turning the printer on again.

Check the Ink Cartridges and Carriage:

  • Open the ink access door and check if the ink cartridges are installed properly and the carriage moves freely. If it's stuck or not moving, there might be an obstruction that needs to be removed.

Update Printer Firmware: If you're able to get the printer to turn on and connect to Wi-Fi, try updating the firmware via the HP Smart app.

Restore the printer:

To restore the printer to the original factory defaults
1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).
2. Touch Printer Maintenance .
3. Touch Restore.
4. Touch Restore Factory Defaults. A message appears stating that the factory defaults will be restored.
5. Touch Continue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi! Yes, that worked, thank you so much! It was unplugging for 60 seconds and then holding the power button for 30 seconds that booted it right up!
