Hello @grammie5353, and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If both printhead icons on your HP Smart Tank 7002 are blinking, it typically indicates a printhead error affecting both the black and tri-color printheads. Here's how you can resolve it:

Check Printhead Installation

  • Open the ink access door and wait for the carriage to stop moving.
  • Ensure the printhead cover is securely closed.
  • If it’s open, gently push it down to close it, then close the ink access door and try printing again.

Reinstall the Printheads

If the error persists:

  • Press the blue button on the carriage to open the printhead cover.
  • Carefully press down on each printhead to release it, then pull it out.
  • Inspect the printheads:
    • Remove any protective tape from the copper contacts (if present).
    • Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles.
  • Reinsert each printhead until it clicks into place.
  • Close the printhead cover and ink access door.

Check Ink Levels and Paper

  • Ensure all ink tanks are at least half full.
  • Load plain paper into the input tray.

Try a Printhead Alignment

  • If prompted, allow the printer to perform a printhead alignment.
  • You can also initiate alignment via the HP Smart app or printer software.
