I called Warranty and HP Support, spent over 45 minutes with techie who refused to solve the problem. They would not admit to a change in firmware. Their solution was to purchase new ink for $105 (the offerd me a discount). I paid less for the printer. If problem cannot be solved, it's good by HP (after being a loyal customer for years and hello Canon or Brothers, or Epson.) Botton line: My printer is worthless and I'm stuck with a lot of worthless ink.

HP have finally admitted their folly and issued and update to overcome this issue. I have installed and tested this update and can verify it resloves the issues with non genuine inks.

Basically you turn off any connection to HP. When your starter cartridges run out you change them out with official HP cartridges. When they run out you take the official cartridges to Costco where they will refill your official cartridges. Never give up your official cartridges. Some refill companies will sell you non official cartridges with new glued on chips that may work for awhile. Never let HP know what your doing. They are a death star company!

Mate,
Give HP credit. They have listened and provided an update that stops the rediculous situation of non genuine inks being blocked by their obtrusive firmware updates.
As stated in my previous post (with provided link) HP have issued a firmware update that resolves non geniunie ink issues and also as previously stated, I have installed and tested this update and confirm that it does exactly what it says on the listed HP inkject printers.

What credit? They should be sued for not noting on the outside of the box that they will block your personal useage. It is false advertising by omission! Wait your time is coming. HP will lay you off for no reason. If you haven't seen it coming your blind.

Not sure where you are coming from.
I am 71 years old and been reitred for 12 years. I do not nor have I ever worked for HP just willing to acknowledge that HP have finally recognised the folly of their ways and took decisive action to resolve this issue.
I posted details re the firmware update to address non genuine cartridge issues for the benefit of those encountering this frustration - nothing else!
Not sure why you are taking your frustration out on me?
