@gravgraham, Welcome to HP Support Community!
The only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Thank you for posting your query on HP Support Community,
In order to bypass the setup cartridges message and use the regular ink cartridges, I believe we can bypass the setup by performing a reset.
To provide you with the accurate steps, I would need to know the correct printer model number.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say that they did not help me resolve the issue at all. They told me to restart the printer, it didn't help. Then I was told to perform the hard reset, which didn't help either and then I never heard from anyone again. I ended up having to buy a new printer.
