I have a new "old stock" HP Officejet Pro 8024 I purchased recently to run on an old XP computer.
It has never been used, but it didn't come with ink cartridges. I purchase a set of new XL cartridges - genuine HP - and inserted them. However, the printer will not set up as the message on the screen says it needs the setup cartridges and not the regular ones to proceed.
I have had a good look around the Internet, and other models of a similar age have a service menu which would allow me to bypass this requirement. However, there is nothing for the 8020 series printers which I can find.
Does anyone have a hint on how to bypass the need for setup cartridges on these printers?
Thanks
Madrilleno

Hi @Madrilleno,
I'd like to help!
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
