Are you a subscriber to the HP Instant Ink program? Are there any Instant Ink cartridges in the printer?
If you are not a subscriber (or if you were a subscriber and the program was cancelled for any reason) the Instant Ink cartridges will need to be replaced with retail cartridges. Instant Ink cartridges will not work unless there is an active Instant Ink subscription.
I suggest you log into the Instant Ink site and check the status of your subscription. Log into the HP Instant Ink site, the phone number (or chat option for some countries) will be listed in the lower right of the opening screen.

@susan0817, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Let us try to perform some basic steps-
Restart the devices-
- Turn the printer off, and then wait 10 seconds.
- Disconnect the printer power cord from the printer.
- Turn off the computer or the device you are trying to print from.
- Connect the printer power cord to the printer, and then turn on the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from your wireless router, and then wait 10 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the router. Wait until Internet service is restored. Internet service is interrupted while the router is off.
- Turn on the computer.
Update the printer firmware-
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates.
For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
