HP Advantage Deskjet 3777
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

 Dear All

I have just purchased a HP Advantage Deskjet 3777 printer, which i want to use in my house for multiple "gadgets" , therefor i have chosen to use it wirelessly and all "gadgets" seems to print without any problems but for my notebook ,here comes the problem then .

I can't print any kind of microsoft office 2010 document unless i convert it into PDF or any other format.

If i open a word.doc and want to print ,then i click " file --> print " , then it shows the printer to be ready (first pic), then i click "print" and nothing happens only showing "0  document pending" (second pic) , then i try with any other format , in this case PDF and it print , no problen as you can see in pic three and four .

what i have tried:

  • Change default printer in printer setting  to some odd printer (then choose the HP DJ 3700 for printing)
  • Roaming" around in misc. setting in HP setting to see if there could be any hints which prevents me from printing any office docs (SW in the printer local web page , EWS)
  • change permission settings in printer properties
  • Re-install the printer (full SW package)
  • Same with MS office
  • "Roaming" around in misc. setting for MS word to see if there could be any hints which prevents me from printing {like , option--> trust center)
  • Tried with cable connection , same issue cant print MS office , havent tried to print PDF thoug

Thank you for your effort in trying to solve my problem , but

It was as i have mentioned before, NOT a printer/HW issue , it was "simply" a  Windows issue.

I changed the settings in my temp folders to " full Control" for all the shown users

This guideline are for Windows 8/8.1

  1. Go to Start and type:  "C:\Windows\" Copy and paste this without exclamation marks.
  2. A pop up window will appear , locate "Temp" folder in pop up and right click and choose properties  then "--> securty --> edit , then tick in appropriate users tickbox "full control".

the second "Temp folder" are located :

  1. Go to Start and type:" %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\" Copy and paste this without exclamation marks
  2. A pop up window will appear , locate "Temp" folder in pop up and right click and choose properties  then "--> securty --> edit , then tick in appropriate users tickbox "full control".

Restart to make changes take effect.

TAA   DDDAAAAA :smileyvery-happy::smileylol:

:TongueOut: you can have this guideline/knowledge to use for free , but since i have used almost all ink in test  printing  , ink which followed my newly purchased printer from HP you could send me a free voucher for a free standard color and black cartridge and a pack of papers ,,,,, yes i used alot of paper and on both sides  :LaughingTears:

Best regards and have a nice day

Tim

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I do see that you've tried most of the troubleshooting steps, Kudos to you on that. 😉

As I understand you are facing issues with printing from MS word.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you try to turn off the UAC settings and try to print?

Meanwhile try the steps given below:

It is caused by the security settings changes on the user profile. You may either create a new user, login with the new user profile to install the printer

Or Turn off the UAC from the control panel and Restart the PC. Here is the steps how to configure UAC

Here's how to turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off in Windows 8.1:

  1. Press Windows Key+X on your keyboard to display the Tools Menu and select Control Panel. Or, right-click the lower left corner of your monitor to display the Tools Menu and select Control Panel.
  2. Type UAC in the search field in the upper right corner of the window.
  3. Click Change User Account Control settings in the search results.
  4. Then do one of the following:
    • To turn UAC off, drag the slider down to Never notify, and click OK.
    • To turn UAC on, drag the slider up to the desired level of security, and click OK.
  5. You may be prompted to confirm your selection or enter an administrator password.
  6. Reboot your computer for the change to take effect.

Let me know how that pans out.

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask any other queries as  well,

Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help. 😉

Hi Barachiel

First of all , thank you for your reply .

Sorry, i forgot to mention in my " what i have done list"  that i also have tried to disable UAC.

As mentioned , it's ONLY from MS OFFICE that i have printing problems , so my theory is that the problem layes within MS OFFICE somewhere , but i think at this point i have staired myself blind on the issue  :generic:

I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:

In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Once done, follow this link www.hp.com/drivers do a quick search with the product number, select the right operating system, and install the full feature driver software. 🙂

Hi Barachiel

Thank you for the instructions it did not help though , but it gave me the opportunity to clean out some old HP printer drivers which i had no use for anymore and they didn't appear in "programs and features" or in "printers and Devices" :generic:

I followed your instruction to the letter and cleaned ALL HP drivers i found to avoid any SW conflicts

I already had the full printer package downloaded  and installed but uninstalled it, as per your advice and then re installed it (release date 16 april 2018), but the result is the same.

Summary.

Can print : print files from any device (Notebook, smartphone, ablet etc.etc.)

Can't print : From notebook  any MS office documents

what i have tried:

  • Change default printer in printer setting  to some odd printer (then choose the HP DJ 3700 for printing)
  • Roaming" around in misc. setting in HP setting to see if there could be any hints which prevents me from printing any office docs (SW in the printer local web page , EWS)
  • change permission settings in printer properties
  • Re-install the printer (full SW package)
  • Same with MS office
  • "Roaming" around in misc. setting for MS word to see if there could be any hints which prevents me from printing {like , option--> trust center)
  • Tried with cable connection , same issue cant print MS office , havent tried to print PDF thoug

additional things i've tried:

  • Upgraded MS OFFICE from 2010 to 2016
  • i tried briefly to print from office with printer connected via USB and with firewall off , antivirus off, no change.
  • i have tried wireless with antivir off /firewall off , no changes
  • i have DL and run the HPPSdr prog. no issues/changes
  • i have DL and run HPEPrint , no changes with that set as "default" printer. .

my next step will be , to bring the printer to a friend and see if the problem persists .(wireless /hardwired) , unless you will come up with a fantastic solution   before i go there .

but for now THANK YOU very much for your effort to solve my problem.

Best Regards

Hmmm :indifferent: Just done testing the printer on a different Laptop

TEST Laptop: Acer Aspire 5315 (VERRRYYY old machine :LaughingTears: )

OS : Windows 7 64 Bit

MS Office 2010 proffesional

no previous printers installed except the standard wich follow windows 7

I installed the full SW package (110MB) on the test laptop , exactly the same way as i did on my own Laptop.

then i tried to do a print out of a PDF doc and a MS office word document ........ NO PROBLEM printing for either of the 2 different types of documets !!!!

Then i tried to find any setting differences between my laptop and test laptop , only differences i found was  on:

See pictures

Test Laptop:

Default printer :  HP  DJ 3700 SERIES  (NETWORK)

Port  : CN7CP4DRG606NS

My Laptop:

Default printer :  HP  DJ 3700 SERIES PCL-3  (NETWORK)

Port : See picture

I tried to add a new port (TCP/IP)  but that didn't work either for MS word
