I downloaded HP Smart and the driver for this printer. It installs and I get to the screen that says "Add printer".
I then get this error message:
Cannot configure the device software.
Go back to the previous step and try to install the software again.
I do go back and try again and keep getting the same. I have also tried downloading the generic software in system preferences but documents do not print.
Can you help please?

Try the full feature software package if you have not used it
There is a video here but you need adapter to printer USB cable. I am not sure of the purpose of this as the printer is USB onlyl and I guess it shows how to be able to print from smartphone .

Thank you for your help but when I download that software package I can't open it.
Is there a place I an download the driver for the printer alone, and not go through HP smart?
Any other solutions? The printer worked fine on an old macbook air but now we just got a new macbook and it's having this issue.

I did not realize you had MacOS and I suspect the problem is the new OS Sonora as there are complaints of AirPrint not working when Sonora came out.
Supposedly this driver has MacOS 14 support
