MacBook Air

I recently installed a new internet system with Spectrum and I am unable to get my HP Deskjet 3050A to connect wireless.  All other devices are working properly except the wireless printer.  Any help available.

@ronel5,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support community!

There are 2 ways to connect the printer to the WiFi network.

  1. Using WPS method(If you have WPS enabled router)
  2. Using the USB cable and converting the set-up to wireless

First, let's Restore the printer's network configuration first.

On the printer, Go to Set Up Menu > Wireless > Settings > Restore Defaults

Once the reset is complete, set-up the wireless.

Method 1: Using WPS

  • On the printer, Go to Set Up Menu > Wireless > Settings > WPS > Pushbutton > Start
  • (Once you get a prompt on the printer) Press and hold the WPS button on the router for 3-5 seconds
  • Wait till the printer establishes a connection with your WiFi router
  • Check the Wireless light status. It should be solid if the printer is successfully connected.

Method 2: Using USB

  • Connect a USB cable between the Printer and MAC.
  • Refer to this video for connecting the printer to the network from your MAC.
  • Wait till the printer establishes a connection with your WiFi router
  • Check the Wireless light status. It should be solid if the printer is successfully connected.

Once the printer is connected to the network, add the printer to your MAC.

  • Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.

  • Click Printers & Scanners or Print & Scan.
  • If your printer is listed, click the name of your printer, then click the minus signhttps://support.hp.com/doc-images/161/c01861703.gif to delete the printer.
  • Click the plus signhttps://support.hp.com/doc-images/466/c03678294.gif, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer.
  • Click the Use or Print Using menu, then select the name of your printer.

( For printers connected on Wireless select AirPrint or Secure Airprint)
