Hi @BillE10,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're trying to print via USB connection from your HP laptop (Windows 10 32-bit) to your HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer series, but the printer is defaulting to Wi-Fi mode and only printing a status report.

Let's walk you through getting your printer back to USB printing mode.

1. Disconnect Wi-Fi Mode (Optional but Recommended)

  1. On the printer's touchscreen, tap Settings (gear icon).
  2. Go to Wireless Settings > Turn Wireless Off.
  3. This disables the Wi-Fi connection, helping it focus on USB input.

2. Reconnect via USB

  1. Make sure your printer is connected directly via USB to your laptop (no hubs or extenders).
  2. Download and install the Full Feature Software and Drivers for your printer here:

👉 📥 HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer series Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

  1. During installation, choose USB connection when prompted.

3. Set Printer as Default (Optional)

  • Go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers
  • Right-click your HP ENVY 4520 USB version, and select Set as default printer

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
