Officejet 7612
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have Windows 10 64 bit and an HP Officejet 7612.

In Word, Excel, Acrobat, or any program from which one can print, there is no option for me to select Tabloid/11x17"/A3 paper size.  In Excel or Word, I can't even create a document that's 11x17" because the HP Officejet 7612 doesn't recognize/allow that paper size.  This is extremely frustrating, since this printer's main feature is having the option to scan and print 11x17's.

I have tried to:

1) Uninstall and reinstall the printer software

2) Check for any new/updated drivers (according to HP troubleshooter/Scan & Print Doctor, there are no new/updated drivers to install)

3) Create a new form by going to "Devices and Printers -> Print Server Properties -> Create a New Form" and manually create/input the Tabloid/11x17" paper size form, then reboot PC and look for the new form in Word, Excel, etc.

If, for example, I deselect my HP Officejet 7612 and choose the "Print to File" option instead, the Tabloid paper size immediately becomes available as a size option.  So it's clearly an issue with the HP software and not an issue with the PC.

It's inconvenient to have to choose an alternate printer just to choose the 11x17" paper size to create a document or spreadsheet.  Worse, I cannot print 11x17" documents at all, which is the sole reason I bought this printer.

Can anyone suggest anything to fix this issue?  Since upgrading to Windows 10, I have spent upwards of 10 hours on the phone with HP support, and bought extended service contracts, only to be told this afternoon that I need to "call back later and ask another agent how to deal with this problem."  I don't have hours to spend on the phone getting this fixed; I need help!

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Hi @h8ingtech2day,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support forums for a solution to your printing issue.

I understand that you are using an HP Officejet 7612 Wide Format e-All-in-One with a Windows 10 computer and you are not able to select the 11x17 tabloid paper size since the Windows 10 upgrade. I will help the best I can.

There has not been an update for the HP Officejet 7610 series Full Feature Software and Drivers since Nov 12, 2014.

You mentioned that you have uninstalled and re-installed the software. When installing the software, did you by chance try using the HP Printer Installer Wizard it gets updated fairly regularly and has been updated since the software and drivers were on the website.

If the printer is on used on a network, you could access the printers Embedded Web Server(EWS) to see if the setting could be set there. I saw that it worked for one person.

1. Obtain the printer's IP Address by touching the Wireless icon on the printer's control panel.

2. Enter the printer's IP Address in an internet browser's address bar. For example, if the IP address is 123.123.123.123, type the following address into the web browser: http://123.123.123.123.

3. Click the Settings tab.

4 Click Paper Setting on the left under Preferences.

5. Select Tabloid(11x17) for the Default Media Size, then Save or Apply.

6. Switch the Default Media back to US Letter.

Check to see if the 11x17 paper size is now available with the computer.

You have definitely done everything i have been able to come across online. The fix with the most success has been the fix by using the HP Deskjet 9800 driver that should be available from the built-in drivers in Windows 10. If it is not available there is likely a Windows Update that should make it available.

1. Open your Start screen again and type Devices and Printers.

2. Click Devices and Printers to launch the window

3. In the Devices and Printers folder right-click on your HP Officejet 7610 Wide Format and left-click on Printer Properties.

4. Click on the Advanced tab.

5. Click on New Driver.

6. When the New Driver window opens just hit 'next' until you see a list of Manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.

7. Select HP as the Manufacturer on the left

8. Select Deskjet 9800 as the printer on the right. If Deskjet 9800 doesn't appear than select 'Windows Update' on the bottom left and once the update completes you will be able to select Deskjet 9800.

9. After selecting Deskjet 9800 click next to complete the New Driver Wizard

10. Under the Printer Properties window select 'Apply' but don't hit OK.

11. Select the General tab.

12. Change the printer name back to HP Officejet 7610 Wide Format.

13. Click OK.

14. Right-click on your HP Officejet 7610 Wide Format one more time and left-click on Printing Preferences.

15. Left-click on the Paper/Quality tab.

16. Left-click on the 'Normal' drop-down for Print Quality on the bottom right and change this to Fast Normal.

17. Click Apply and OK.

Hopefully this can help.

Regards.

THIS HP9800 DRIVER WORKS!  I use my 7612 for printing CAD files mostly in Tabloid or SuperB. When I upgraded my computer to Windows 10 I was stunned to fined out I couldn't printout anything larger than legal or some obscure Japanese formats.

HP indicates that the last Driver update was in Nov 2014 but I know that suppliers were still selling HP7612s through December 2016, so this sounds a bit premature to stop updating drivers. Especially when Win 10 came out in July 2015 and so many of these printers are still working - and guess why they were purchased as "Large Format Printers"!

Just don't use the  WIN 10 printer app - it won't show the full range of paper sizes. Use the whatever program you are using print function.

Cannot select another driver by the method indicated in your forum

I've only ever used the windows 10 version of the 7612, not sure why I cannot select an 11x17 paper size

this forum is too old to follow the instructions
