macOS 10.12 Sierra

Just upgraded to Sierra mac 10.12 and now scan to pdf to computer wont work

error: "A necessary software component is missing or corrupt. Please reinstall the software for your device and/or check your hard drive for problems."

 

Then I downloaded latest driver but when I click HP Utility &  Scan to Computer it gives error 

"Software required for scan to computer could not be located on this computer"

 

also easy scan sofware cannot find the compter either

but Disc Utility works in so far as I can print to printer

 

Summary:

I installed the latest driver after upgrading to Mac0s 10.12 Sierra

I cant scan to pdf & send to computer

Thanks for reaching out to the forums! I understand that you are having issues scanning to PDF to the Mac since upgrading to Sierra. I would be happy to help you. 

 

Try these steps to see if they will resolve this issue: Network Scanner Connection is Lost (Mac).

 

Do you have the option to Enable Scan to Computer?

 

I have provided some steps for manually removing all the old printer software and reinstalling the latest drivers again if you are still having issues.

 

Here are the steps: Uninstalling HP Printer Software (Mac).

 

Move the files and/or folders to the trash, drag and drop.

  • Macintosh HD/Applications//Hewlett-Packard folder
  • Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/ - delete all files and folders regarding HP/Hewlett Packard
  • In Macintosh HD/Library/Caches - delete all files and folders regarding HP/Hewlett Packard
  • Macintosh HD/Library/Documentation/Help/ - delete all files and folders regarding HP/Hewlett Packard
  • Macintosh HD/Library/Frameworks/HPServicesInterface.framework
  • Macintosh HD/Library/Frameworks/HPSmartX.framework
  • Macintosh HD/Library/Image Capture/TWAIN Data Sources/HP Scan Pro
  • In Macintosh HD/Library/Image Capture/Scripts - delete all files and folders regarding HP/Hewlett Packard
  • In Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences - delete all files and folders regarding HP/Hewlett Packard

Move Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/loginwindow.plist to the desktop. NOTE: Not removing the file loginwindow.plist during the manual uninstall could cause the uninstall to be unsuccessful.

  • In Macintosh HD/Library/Printer/hp - delete folder
  • In Macintosh HD/Library/StartupItems, drag the following folders to the trash, HP IO, and HP Trap Monitor
  • In Macintosh HD/Users/USERNAME (this should have a symbol of a house next to it)/Library/Preferences, drag the following folders to the trash: *Any files beginning with com.apple.print, *Any files beginning with com.hp, *Any files beginning with Hewlett-Packard, *Any files beginning with HP or HP.
  • In MacintoshHD/Users/USERNAME/Library/Printers, drag any All-in-One printers listed here into the trash.
  • Drag the HP icons from the Dock and drop it on an empty space on the desktop. The icon will disappear.

Close all open windows.


Restart the Mac.


Empty the Trash.


After logging in, Repair Disk Permissions.

  1. On the Dock, click  Applications, and then click Utilities.
  2. Double-click Disk Utility.
  3. Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
  4. Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
  5. Once the repair is complete, restart the computer .
  6. Restart the computer.

Install the latest software: HP Easy Start.

i finally got it to work

1. deleted the printer's online link and reinitiated it to get the eprint code

2. reloaded the new drivers

3. still didnt work so I shut down the printer for an hour — then after turning on the printer again, the computer found the printer and connected.

Two fast and easy ones

 

1. Open your browser and type in the IP number to your scanner device, typ 192.168.1.111 or whatever.

If your device have an webinterface you are able to scan your dokument. You DO NOT NEED TO TYPE IN USER AND PASSWORD. Let them be blank.

 

2. Go to www.hamrick.com and download VueScan (Free testversion scanns with a watermark) To me it took less than a minute. VueScan found the scanner by it self. I paid for the pro version and now I can scan happily.

 

I have an nearly ten year old scanner.
