Printer message: The indiated cartridges are not intended for use in this printer.

HP cartridges have been installed for sometime and have been working.  Message first appeared after power was out during a thunder storm.  I have taken the cartridges out and re-installed but still receive the same message.

TIA for any help!

Hello, @cmwcruise – Greetings!

I understand that you are getting ink cartridge issues with the printer. I’d suggest you perform the steps listed here: Troubleshooting Print Quality Problems with HP Inkjet Printers

HP ENVY 4510, 4520 printers - No black ink, wrong colors, other print quality issues

Once done, try to perform a power drain and try to make a copy. Here are the steps:

  • Remove the cartridges from the printer.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

If the issue persists, try using an alternate cartridge and check.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂
