HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdn

Product: HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M477fdn
Operating System: independent

What led to the problem:  I wanted to print an envelop. It did not start printing but gave me an error message that I should power cycle the printer, what I did. Unfortunately I do not remember the exact message.

Description:

When I power on my printer, it always gets stuck at Initializing screen. I already tried all the proposals I found in this great forum and other sources in the web without success.

My son had this problem before when I was on vacation and there it went away when I got back. The printer was off for a week or so.

But this time turning it off (unplug cable) for more than 10 hours doesn't help.
Among other things, I

  • removed cartridge and reset
  • NVRAM reset
  • Power cycle without cartridge and paper tray
  • Power cycle without cartridge, paper tray and external connections (LAN, phone, USB)
  • tried to connect by LAN and USB - printer is not accessible

Assuming it is going to come down to a hardware issue but willing to try additional troubleshooting steps if anyone knows of any?

Thanks in advance

Most likely either the formatter (my first choice) or the Dc controller has failed and would need to be replaced.

Many thanks for your fast answer.

I searched for the spare parts but could not find them. I guess it's not worth the hassle anyway.

What would you advise me to do?

Formatter should be part number CF378-60002.  Go to HP Partsurfer, enter your serial number and search to confirm. Always parts on Ebay or Amazon.

Thanks  to your great help it was easy to find the part and a description how to unmount/mount the formatter 🙂

I recognized that the 3V-Battery on the formatter only has a voltage 2,75V. Do you think that this might be the root cause for the failure. Replacing the battery would be a lot cheaper than replacing the circuit board.
