Hi All,

I'm receiving constant "paper jam" errors when trying to print photos on HP Premium Plus photo papers. I'm using 13x18 cm and A4 papers. I've sacrificed one sheet of A4 paper and have printed the printer's self-test report and it goes out all OK.

I've already followed instructions to clean paper feed rollers but with no effect (e.g. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01123477

I'm about to give up and look for service but the strange thing is that it jams only when trying to print photos (e.g. from Lightroom) but is ok when copying documents or printing self-test report.

Any hints here?

Thanks,

Adam

Hi aDamC6280,

From your name, I'm assuming the photo printing issue is with a Photosmart C6280. I will definitely do my best to assist you with this paper jam issue you've been experiencing.

I would recommend you have a look through this Paper Jam document to see if there are any steps that you haven't tried yet. It's possible there is just an issue with the photo paper tray on the unit. Have you tried making a copy of a photo to see if it jams then as well? That could help determine if it's an issue with the hardware or possibly the software.

Also make sure the printer is plugged directly to a wall outlet to ensure the printer has enough power to function properly.

Hope this helps, have a great day!!

Hi MissTeriLynn,

Indeed this is Photosmart C6280 printer Smiley Happy Forgot to mention it in the post.

Yes, I've came across this "Paper Jam" page and followed all instructions apart from sending the printer to the service.

I am also following all instructions mentioned in "Preventing paper jams" section and as I've mentioned I'm using original HP Premium Plus photo papers. Btw, I've printed one photo on 13x18 sheet which went out fine but I could not print another one.

To compliment the information from first message with some more details:

the sheet of photo paper (all sizes) is pulled from the input tray, than the printer stops for several seconds, tries to move the paper back and front and stops with the "paper jam" error. The paper is pulled out after I select "Ok" or "X" button on the printer.

Also I'd like to highlight that I'm trying 10x15 photo paper loaded to the dedicated photo paper tray as well as larger 13x18 and A4 papers loaded in the standard paper tray (one or another, not both at the same time Smiley Happy

Hope this clarifies.

Cheers,

Adam

Hi aDamC6280,

Thanks for the quick reply, and the extra info!

I'm still not sure if it's hardware or software at this point, so what I'd like you to do is try making a copy of a photo and let me know if that works. That will essentially let us know if this issue is more software or hardware related 🙂

Hi,

I've done this test and the photo is being printed correctly via copy function on the printer. I've used 10x15 photo copied on 10x15 HP photo paper.

Looking forward for instructions. To anticipate your questions:

- I'm printing from Adobe Lightroom 3.6 64 bit

- Installed the latest printer driver

- Windows 8.1 Pro

- Printer connected via ethernet cable

- Last printed photo was 3 days ago, no software or hardware changes to my computer since than

Hi aDamC6280,

Thank you again for the reply, and the extra info 🙂

It's definitely a software/connection issues since you can make the copy onto photo paper just fine. Because there have been no changes to your system, that you're aware of, I would like you to try and print a photo using Windows Live Photo Gallery and see if that gives you the same issue. That will help determine if it's related to the one program or the software in general.

Look forward to hearing back from you!

Unbelievable... I was struggling for several months now. Many thanks!!!!

Just to mention  - for me the fake paper jam only started after upgrading to Windows 10.

Thanks again for posting this online!
