HP OfficeJet Pro 7740
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

When using an application that uses the dashed and dotted linetypes that are built into Windows (Windows GDI linetypes), the dashed and dotted linetypes print as solid lines. Looking closely at the printout it looks like they are actually printing but with the dots and dashes crammed so close together as to make the line solid. I've tried reducing dpi but there are not many options in the driver, and does not help.

Anyone know of any specific settings, or perhaps another driver to make this work?

Thanks,

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I understand that you are facing a print quality issue.

Are you using genuine HP ink cartridge?

Are you facing this issue after an update?

I suggest you reinstall the printer with the built-in driver and check if this works out.

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, use this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01796879 to install the built-in driver.
