It sounds frustrating that your DeskJet 4140 isn’t printing properly. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue further:

Check Ink Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are installed correctly. Sometimes, they might not make good contact with the printer, even if they are seated.

Inspect the Ink Cartridges:

  • Since you replaced them with old cartridges, they might be dried out. Even if they were sealed, older ink can sometimes dry up inside the cartridge.
  • Check for any protective tape on the cartridges that might not have been removed.

Run the Cleaning Cycle Again:

  • You mentioned running cleanings, but consider doing it once more, especially if you have just replaced the cartridges with new ones. This might help clear any clogs.

Check for Software Issues:

  • Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look at the printer’s control panel for any error messages or blinking lights. These can give clues about what might be wrong.

Print a Test Page:

  • Try printing a test page directly from the printer's control panel. This can sometimes bypass software issues and confirm if the printer is working.

Try a Different Document:

  • Sometimes, the document itself might have issues. Try printing a simple text document to see if that works.

Wait for the New Ink:

  • Since you've ordered new cartridges, try those once they arrive. If they still don’t work, it could indicate a deeper issue with the printer itself

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
