When I scan or copy a document a black vertical line appears on the left hand side of the copy document/image....printing is fine. Anyone know how I can access the scanning glass and how to clean it ? (By the way it is an all in one printer so there is no way of lifting the lid)

Thanks

@MrP124635

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Deskjet 3720 Printer. I understand that you are getting black vertical line while scanning or copying and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

Clean the scanner.

Clean the automatic document feeder (ADF) rollers.

Change the scan settings.

Reset the printer.

  1. Remove any items from the scanner glass and automatic document feeder (ADF), then close the scanner lid.

  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.

  3. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  4. Plug the power cord back into a wall outlet.

  5. Reconnect the power cord to the printer.

  6. Load the original document or photo, then try to scan.

Click here and refer the document to perform the above steps.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

I believe you just copied one of those canned responses. Do you know this printer doesn't have a lid?

I've got the same issue, I've not been able to scan any document properly so far.
