I've had several HP's in the past years.   And in the past, when a page doesn't print for some reason (e.g., low ink, paper jam or 2 sheets feed in error, etc.), once the problem is fixed, the printer would simply continue to print, printing the actual page that errored out and continue the rest of the job..   Now with new printer, the printing stops, won't start printing the rest of the pages, and then you can't even delete the print job from the print queue.    I've tried  cancelling the job, resuming job, unplugging the printer, and rebooting the computer.    Cancel and Resume both come back with the messsage that it can't do it.  WHY ISN'T THIS FIXED?

I found this same info; however it doesn't solve the fact that the HP software needs to be fixed to eliminate this problem.   Thanks for your reply; I've already passed it on to a couple friends I was helping.  And I'm sure others will have the same problem.

Hi @nkjohnston,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can feel the frustration behind your words when you're in the middle of something important and your printer just refuses to cooperate; it’s more than just a technical hiccup. It’s a disruption to your flow, your focus, and sometimes even your deadlines. Let’s get this sorted.

Fix Steps

Here’s the official HP support guide that walks you through resolving stuck print jobs on both Windows and macOS: 🔗 HP printers - Print jobs stuck in print queue (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support

Step-by-Step (Windows):

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.

  2. Stop the Print Spooler service
    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, press Enter.
    • Find Print Spooler, right-click → Stop.

  3. Delete spooler files
    • Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
    • Delete all files in this folder.

  4. Restart the Print Spooler
    • Go back to services.msc, right-click Print Spooler → Start.

  5. Plug in and turn on your printer.

  6. Try printing again.
